Orange @ OV: Pregame

January 20, 2010

After an emotionally charging and really satisfying win against Huntington Beach on Monday, the Hawks (14-3) are looking to suit up against the Orange Oranges Panthers (7-11).

Before we get into the game, I’d like to point out a couple of things. Here are top 5 teams in the SCIBCA’s CIF-SS rankings for Division 3-AA:

1. Ocean View

2. Foothill

3. Elsinore

4. Arroyo Grande

5. Sonora

Full rankings here. And even more important, here are the top 5 teams for Orange County, in any division:

1. Mater Dei (Trinity) 15-1, 50

2. Ocean View (Golden West) 13-3, 45

3. Foothill (Sea View) 17-2, 35

4. Los Alamitos (Sunset) 14-4, 34

5. Orange Lutheran (Trinity) 13-5, 31

It’s rather comedic to see Golden West up there huh? Congrats guys, you are right up there with the best of them!

To anyone who is dissappointed

January 19, 2010

I would like to personally apologize for the lack of emotion and energy at the recent games at Ocean View; for one, I know ASB just had a huge discussion on how we can “pump up” the crowd. For one, I want to have this kind of crowd (rallied up, and hungry to help their team) in the regular season. I’m not guaranteeing it to happen, but I can definitely prove to you that I will try my best to put it out there.

We’ve used the Cameron Crazies as a model… again, not saying that it will happen, but expect a much more energized fan base out there this Friday.

We own this city… for now: OV Destroys Huntington Beach, 83-38

January 18, 2010

My prediction was way off… in a good way though.

Ocean View not only reversed the score, but beat the Oilers into submission… not that it wasn’t expected.

The biggest, and most decisive factor of the game was DEFENSE. Our Defense was in Championship mode tonight! They forced over 20 turnovers (no stats available yet, so don’t knock me if I’m wrong),  by either jumping passing routes, or just pickpocketing the half-hazard Oilers. These guys were really no where close to our league, and their overall lack of size was combined to their lack of scorers… and OV spent over half of the game on a fast break… I said it in the 1st quarter report that I have never seen so many dunks in one game, and I wasn’t kidding; Ocean View is just too good for anyone in Huntington Beach right now.

While getting back into a league mode will be important, this effort tonight is a real boost, and if history ever predicted anything, Ocean View should be on its way up from this point on.

Dominant, absolutely dominant. This wasn’t even a contest when McLovin won the tipoff for the Hawks. Enjoy bragging rights
